Brims Construction were successfully appointed through a competitive two-stage tender process to deliver the prestigious Rushford Court development on behalf of Unite Students. This project represents a significant investment in student infrastructure and university collaboration, aimed at enhancing both academic and social experiences for its occupants.
The scope of works included the design and construction of a new, purpose-built facility that serves dual functions: providing dedicated study and social spaces for students, while also accommodating office facilities for university staff. The building has been thoughtfully integrated into the existing site to complement its surroundings and meet the needs of its users.
A key architectural feature of the new two-storey structure is its sunken design, which ensures there is no loss of external amenity space. This approach was carefully chosen to reduce the overall massing of the building and to preserve important sightlines across the site, thereby minimising its visual impact on the surrounding environment.
Constructed with a robust concrete frame and floor slabs, the building features curtain wall glazing on its exposed elevation, allowing for natural light to flood the interior while maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic. The roofscape has been designed to be fully accessible, offering additional functional space and contributing to the building’s versatility.
This project exemplifies Brims Construction’s commitment to delivering high-quality, context-sensitive developments that meet the evolving needs of educational institutions and their communities.
