Freeman Hospital

Newcastle

19 bedrooms with
en-suite shower rooms

Brims Construction was appointed as main contractor on the ‘Home from Home’ Development at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. The new building is to be one of the Sick Children Trust’s “Home from Home” provisions. These buildings offer sleeping and shared living accommodation for families of children receiving treatment in hospital. The ethos of the “Home from Home” is that it should offer respite from the hospital wards and a supportive, relaxing and low-stress environment for families. This facility provides 19 bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms of varying sizes, shared living, kitchen, dining and children’s play areas as well as associated spaces such as staff offices, a laundry and a meeting room that can double up as a work “from home” space for parents staying in the building.
