Brims Construction was appointed in October 2016 by Shepherd Offshore Ltd to undertake the design and construction of its new high specification office development at Walker Offshore Technology Park on Wincomblee Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. The new facility comprises a large two-storey office block accommodation which includes a bright and airy entrance lobby and reception area; general office accommodation to both the ground and first floors.
The works comprised the demolition of the existing buildings, substructure works, the erection of a steel portal frame with a separate frame for the main entrance porch and lobby/canopy. The upper floor construction to the offices was constructed using steel joists and metal decking to suit the required loads. The external walls were a mixture of cladding with the addition of double glazed windows. External works included a new access and egress, 179 new car parking spaces and soft landscaping. As well as foul and surface water drainage, external services and covered bin and cycle storage.
