Brims Construction was appointed by a private Client in 2008 for the construction of The Old Tennis Court in Washington, Tyne & Wear. This new build bespoke executive home was built in a conservation area where the sensitive use of materials was carefully undertaken to ensure the new building blended into the leafy surroundings and satisfied strict planning requirements. The house is approximately 5,000 sq. ft. and the building shell is a mix of timber cladding, brickwork and natural stone. Composite windows were used throughout to maintain a natural feel internally, with a curtain wall system used on the entrance screen. Brims worked closely with the owner to aid and assist them with their fit out works, which were carried out directly by the Client. Externally new access was achieved through a tree lined driveway and a contemporary sunken patio area was constructed to the rear of the house.
