Brims Construction was appointed as Principal Contractor by Gateshead College in July 2013 to undertake the design and construction of a new 3,035 sq.m, two-storey light industrial building for the Low Carbon Vehicle Research and Development Centre at Barmston Court, Nissan Way in Sunderland. The new building enabled Gateshead College to expand its current facilities to create new working and teaching space. The project also included the complete refurbishment of the first and second floors of the existing Barmston Court industrial building to create new working space, cafeteria and welfare provision. A new electricity substation was also provided. External works included hard and soft landscaping and infrastructure works.
