Brims Construction was employed by Nexus to undertake the successful delivery of three individual Metro station refurbishments on the St James to South Shields Metro line. Hebburn, Jarrow and Bede stations were all refurbished during an 18-week contract period between May and September 2014. All three projects were completed on time and within budget, providing Nexus with value for money whilst ensuring no disruption to passenger and train services. The three station refurbishments were undertaken concurrently as part of the Metro reinvigoration and rebranding programme. The completed stations have been significantly improved with enhanced appearance and passenger accessibility features which will improve passenger perception, hopefully leading to increased passenger numbers for Nexus and the Metro.
