Brims Construction was appointed by Roomzzz Aparthotel UK in 2012 to undertake the conversion of a derelict Grade II listed Georgian house into the high specification, luxury Roomzzz Friar House Aparthotel. The derelict house which had stood empty since the 1960s was situated behind Newcastle’s Central Station on Clavering Place. Built in the 1790s, the house was refurbished and restored into a 14 suite, luxury apartment hotel with a total area of approximately 1,000 sqm internal area. The hotel was spread over four floors comprising, basement, ground, first and second floors with a new mezzanine third floor within the roof space. The works also included new M&E installations, specialist plastering and cornice repairs and an extensive second fix joinery package undertaken with our own labour.
