Brims Construction was appointed as Principal Contractor in November 2014 by Whitburn Church of England Academy to undertake the design and construction of their new Sixth Form Centre at Whitburn, near Sunderland. The new two-storey building was constructed within the Academy grounds and provides 12 standard classrooms; social and private study space; cafeteria and dining facilities; office accommodation; and ancillary and support space for teachers and students. The works comprised a two-storey steel framed building with a Metsec render and conventional brickwork envelope, incorporating curtain wall glazing and a single ply roof. Internally, the building was finished to a high standard with vinyl flooring to communal areas and carpet to the classrooms.
