50-54 Union Street Student Accommodation
Value: £13.5 million | Completion: July 2018
Brims Construction has recently been appointed to undertake the construction of a new student accommodation complex at 50-54 Union Street in Newcastle. The new eight-storey student residential scheme is located on the junction of Stoddart Street and Union Street in the Upper Ouseburn area of Newcastle, at the site of the now derelict PTS plumbing building. The development will feature 331 beds split across 91 studios and 38 cluster flats along with a lounge and games room, laundry, fitness suite, two dinner party rooms, study room, cinema room and outdoor amenity space with picnic tables and cycle stores.
The new building is to be situated within the existing site adjacent to the Network Rail track to the South and accommodation to the East and North with factory units to the West. The design and construction works will incorporate the following elements:
- Enabling works
- Substructures and drainage
- Structural steelwork
- Roof and wall finishes and curtain walling/windows
- Internal fit out works including mechanical and electrical services
- External works scheme
Our vision for the site is that a professional image is portrayed from inception to completion and that the construction service that is provided extends beyond Practical Completion to ensure that the delivery process is an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all involved. As Principal Contractor, we will be working closely with the businesses and residents of the surrounding area throughout the construction phase. We recognise the importance of keeping everyone informed throughout our works and we will issue regular newsletters to keep everyone abreast of progress, site issues and matters which may affect the local community.
